The Google Analytics code is changing

Get ready to upgrade your code for your website’s Google Analytics property to GA 4 by 1 July next year (2023)!

Upcoming changes to be aware of:

The Google Universal Analytics properties will stop processing data on 1st July, 2023 (1st July, 2024 for Analytics 360 properties). In order for your existing Google Analytics account to work and collect website statistics, you will need to upgrade the Google Analytics code on your website to the new Google Analytics 4 coding (also known as GA 4 for short).

If you haven't already used Google Analytics with your Squarespace website you can start using a Google Analytics 4 property on your Squarespace website now when you set up a new Google Analytics account and embed the code in the head of your Squarespace custom code section.

OR to use the simpler API installation follow these instructions to add the GA-4 tracking ID to your Squarespace website:

  1. Open the Advanced panel.

  2. Click External API keys.

  3. In the Google Analytics account number field, enter your tracking ID, measurement ID, or both separated by a comma.

  4. Click Save.
